Taking in to consideration of the need of providing quality eye care at very low cost, a Charitable Eye Hospital was established in the year 2000. A philanthropic friend of Laxmi Charitable Trust offered one complete floor for the hospital at subsidized cost in a building next to Laxmi Eye Institute. The hospital was started with bear minimum essential facilities of OPD and OT section to serve underprivileged. Eventually all the necessary facilities were added including facility to provide spectacles at a low cost to patients, staying facility for patients coming from camps, etc. In the year 2008 'Jeevottam Medical Foundation' offered one complete floor of their building at Harigram, a place about 8 kms from Panvel for the activities of Laxmi Charitable Trust. A fully equipped operation theatre was established in the said premises and all surgical activities of camp patients were started there. Today we can operate 30 patients in a day at Harigram Hospital.
Today Laxmi Charitable Trust Eye Hospital can cater to 100 patients in OPD and 30 to 35 surgeries at subsidized cost to underprivileged patients. Laxmi Eye Institute backs up for any advanced investigation/procedure or surgery for the patients from charitable hospital at subsidized rates. All state of art services in eye care are available to any patient coming from the financially deprived class.
Till March 2012 more than One Lakh patients were examined in Charitable Eye Hospital and more than Six Thousand surgeries are performed at subsidized rate.
